The Wheels are Coming Off!

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

Folks, it’s great to be alive. I have to fess up: back here in August I predicted that health care was a done deal, and that all that remained was a “dance” to see which Dems would get to opt out for their own reelection purposes. Well, in a matter of a month, a historic election in Massachusetts and the weak knees of several Dems in both the House and Senate make it appear that we may be on the verge of killing socialized medicine in America. It’s not “in the books” yet—don’t celebrate—but I’ll be all too happy to say “I was wrong” when and if we see this thing with its head cut off and garlic stuffed in its mouth.

But the news keeps getting better: the number of incumbent Dems in trouble, both in the House and Senate, is almost getting too large to count. Evan Bahy in Indiana is the latest to lose in hypothetical head-to-head matchups with several Republicans; Harry Reid would be crushed if the election were today; Arlen Sphincter is in deep trouble; the Republican is ahead in Obama’s old seat; and only the last-minute switcheroo in Chris Dodd’s seat—where he was a dead duck—has given the Dems a hope of saving Connecticut.

But even more: Barry is now up to a whopping 56% disapproval in the latest Rasmussen poll, http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/obama_administration/daily_presidential_tracking_poll and his total approval number (44%) is just one point higher than his “strongly disapprove” number (43%)!! That’s stunning. It means that almost as many people detest this guy as even partially approve of what he’s doing.

Throw in the continued melting of “global warming” claims (was this ice storm, as difficult as it is on some of us—a signal from the Almighty not to take His weather in vain or what?), and you have the makings of a pretty good February. Sarah Palin continues to say the right things. I’ll admit, I’m not yet convinced she is presidential timber, though of course she’s already miles ahead of McCain, Obama, and Biden put together, but she is doing the Reagan trip, hitting all the conventions and making important speeches. And by the way, Palin deserves significant credit for exposing the “death panels” in Obamacare and possibly in starting that legislation down the road to perdition.

But don’t get giddy. Elections are not until November, and even if Republicans stage an astounding victory, governing is twice as hard as winning an election. Rolling back some of this stuff will take the strength of Atlas, the faith of Daniel, and the courage of Tony Romo standing in the pocket against the Vikings’ rush.

I’m in total agreement, Prof S. I, too, had almost thrown in the towel on this potential health care disaster but the turn-about, thanks to the awakening of the American people, has astonished me.
The wretched Dummycrats named above are now being held accountable and The Messiah continues to put his foot into it on a constant basis. Let it continue as such!

As far as Palin is concerned, I also agree. I was a bit disturbed when she bailed from the governorship (she probably should have held out until the end of her term), but it’s beginning to look more and more politically savvy on her part for doing so. Yes, she’s not Presidential timber yet, but she’s made great strides in that direction. She continues to learn and grow in that capability every day and I continue to be impressed. By time the next Presidential election comes around, she just may stand a very good chance. We’ll see.

I personally believe that this miraculous turn of events is just that – miraculous. Many people (including me) have been praying that God pull our nation back from the brink of destruction. I believe that He, for now, is doing that. For those believers out there, keep praying!

  3. Politics is an amazing thing, sometimes. But, you are right to say that we shouldn’t celebrate too early. The Dems STILL have a majority in both houses and many of them only have loyalty to their radical ideology and couldn’t care less what the voters think about anything.

  4. I too, thanked God and Mother Nature for their blessing of blanketing DC in snow!

Just found this site, thanks to Glenn Beck, so I’ll check back often!

Prof S. is right on the money!

I myself am very pleased to see the Healthcare bill lose momentum, as it would financially cripple our country and lower incentives to provide excellent care to patients. More so, socialized healthcare would further enable certain members of our society to continue abusing the system, thereby fertilizing their already out control sense of entitlement. I work in an ER and I could go on and on about the abuses of the system…

I hope that the Republicans will have a huge comeback in November… however; we need GOOD Republicans in office, no more swine. We need people to promote competition amongst medical insurance companies and tort reform… end frivolous law suits already!

  6. Thank you for adding me to this blog and updating. It was very hard to turn on the news or talk radio and listen to the ones that call themselves “the representatives of the people” speak about something they really knew nothing about. Before we have any radical change, we need responsibility and a history lesson about our country and the principles we were founded on. Let them have it Professor!
