All, well, things don’t always go as you plan—sometimes they go better, and sometimes they just go differently.
When I got to NYC, I was told by the Glenn Beck show that they would “pre-tape” my interview because of the heavy news cycle. Glenn interviewed me about “Seven Events that Made America America.” Then I hung around for an hour, and we taped a second entire show on Ben Franklin, which has to run tomorrow, because, well, that’s the whole show. So far, my pre-taped book segment hasn’t run, but I’m confident it will.
Meanwhile, I’m doing so many radio interviews I can’t count them, including Michael Medved today and Mark Davis (Rush’s fill in on many occasions) tomorrow.
The trailer is up at www.rockinthewall.com and looks fantastic.
Mike and I just finalized a deal for a “Documents Companion to PHUSA” for all you educators, and I think it’s a good balance of documents, edited by star Amazon reviewer Dave Dougherty, plus Mike and myself.
So, lots happening. Stay tuned.
Patrick Kennedy says:
Great! I love it. I look forward to the “Documents Companion.” I have used one for 1776 to teach my children some history and they (especially my active son) loves it.

Great trailer! I can’t wait to see that recording on Ben Franklin tomorrow and I most definitely CANNOT wait for the “Document Companion to PHUSA”.
I’m still reading PHUSA, haven’t had a lot of time to read it lately due to research papers and final exam review. I continue to read whenever I can.

The guy who I was on with, James Srodes, is a Franklin scholar par excellence, and I didn’t need to say much, because he really knew Franklin and told great stories.
Bob Hayner says:
nice hearing things are poppin’ ….PHUSA is a real wonderful, accurate history…as a History major, I am aware that all historians are biased by their inclusions/exclusions and choice of adjectives regarding certain events and people. Have made my own commentaries about FDR, Woodrow Wilson, poor Herbert Hoover and Mr. Coolidge. After all, events and character (stong or weak) can move a whole country right or left. As a kid, FDR was a real hero. Now, a real villain! Deja vu with BHO.
Stuart Smith says:
What more can you tell us about the Documents Companion? I’m very interested in this, as I am reading my first edition of your PHUS now.
schweikart@erinet.com says:
Stuart,
Dave Dougherty, Mike Allen, and I have selected about 65 of the key documents in American history all the way up through 2010. Each will be introduced with a 3- to 4-paragraph introduction that provides setting, context, and so on. We decided against making reference to specific pages in PHUSA because those will change with our next revision. Each entry introduction contains prompts or ideas about how the document might be used. There are the obvious ones, as well as some from recent times such as Kelo v. New London and the Obama “hope and change” speech.
Jason Russell says:
In your comment of June 7 you mention a “next revision” to A Patriot’s History. When will that come out?
schweikart@erinet.com says:
I’ll post this on the blog this week, but right now our publisher is saying the “Documents Companion” to PHUSA will be out next summer and the revision of PHUSA itself has been set at 2012, unless we sell a little faster than expected.
