What will the final score read?

A week from Tuesday, we will see the results of the anger and concern that a majority of Americans have (according to any poll you cite) about the Democrats and Obama. The prognostications are all over the map, so I’ll weigh in.

Keep in mind that back in August, 2009, I stated categorically that health (non-)care would pass; that the Democrats would willingly sacrifice a number of their own to get it in; and that no Democrats in sufficient number would oppose it, betting they could con the voters a year later. I was 100% right in those predictions.

So here goes. These are low end predictions:
GOP takes 55 seats in the House, 8 in the Senate, thereby gaining control of the House, but coming up short in the Senate.

Before you wring your hands, realize that 60 votes did not give the Republicans control of the Senate because of people like Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe, John McCain, and (likely) new senators such as Kirk in IL or Fiorina in CA. These are NOT conservatives, and could not be counted on to hold a filibuster or to vote against “cap and tax.” That is why defeating Castle in DE was critical (and it’s too bad that we missed a chance to substitute a real conservative for Kirk in IL). My point is, if the GOP gets eight seats in the Senate, that is fantastic, and is just as good as getting ten with this current crowd.

A number of senators will be a marked step to the right: Toomey in PA (over Arlen Sphincter), Rubio in FL, Portman (over Voinovich) in OH, and so on. So on the one hand, the Senate will become MUCH more conservative, but in pure party votes, little voting power will change. In fact—hate to say this—the most powerful people in the Senate will become Snowe, Collins, and a couple of so-called “moderate Democrats” (no such thing).

The most difficult task is not getting elected—that part will be relatively easy. It’s going to be doing something about Obama and Obamacare and all the socialism we see once the GOP is in power in the House. This will be very daunting, because for the next two years we are going to hear from the lamestream media how the Republicans are the “party of no,” how they don’t want to “do anything,” blah, blah, blah. Only those with spines of steel will survive this—which is why I’m so impressed with people like Sharron Angle and Christine O’Donnell. Even if they have things in their background that normally would cause me to go “hmmm,” they don’t take crap. And folks, THAT IS WHAT WE NEED FOR THE NEXT TWO YEARS.

*Quick update: “Rockin’ the Wall” is out, it’s available in Blue Ray and Standard Def DVD, so go to www.rockinthewall.com and get a copy. It’s a great documentary, and we’ve yet to hear anyone—Hollywood insider or plain old viewer—say anything negative, or anything other than, “It’s a great movie.”
